Madrasa
AL madina Jami Masjid Islamic centre Aims and objective:
- To provide Islamic education, both basic and elementary to Muslim children, irrespective of their race, colour, ethnicity or geographical background.
- To Instill Islamic values and beliefs in the hearts of our children in the light of the Qur’an and Noble Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad.
- To help and develop our children in order for them to become responsible members of society.
- To ensure the Madrasa experience for our children is pleasant, kind, caring and enjoyable for them.
- To ensure all children are respected and treated fairly and equally.
Admission polices
All applications must be submitted early as possible; as all requests for admissions are dealt with according to the date we receive them. The minimum age for admission is 5 years for both boys and girls.
A meeting is arranged for all successful applicants, where all relevant paperwork is completed.
All children are first given a 1 week trial after which the Madrasa will decide whether to keep them on permanently or not.
If any child leaves the Madrasa, but later on wishes to come back, then he/she will have to re-apply. (Admission fee will apply and any other fees that are applicable at the time).
Attendance/Register
It is essential that your child attends Madrasa every single day and arrives to class on time.
If your child is absent for any valid reason, you must phone the Imam. The register is taken every day and a monthly record of your child’s progress is kept; this can be viewed by parents upon request to find out how much their child is progressing.
Parents / guardians must fill in a holiday request form before they go abroad with the child; failure to do so will result in your child losing his/her place at the Madrasa.
Please do not take extended holidays during Madrasa time as this disrupts the learning of your child and thus, as a result, he/she will fall behind and will not reach the progress/learning targets.
(We strongly advise parents not to keep “football training” and other such “after school” activities during Madrasa hours. This seriously disrupts the education of the child. If any child is absent/late on several occasions, we will contact the parents to resolve the issue. However, if it still continues, then we will take necessary action that we deem appropriate.)
IMPORTANT: Although attending the Madrasa on time is important, we would like to strongly point out to you that you do not send your child very early (15-20 minutes before lesson begins). The earliest our doors will be open for the children is 4.25pm and second shift 5.40pm.

Health & Safety/sickness/medical
Children must be made to visit the toilet prior to coming to the Madrasa. Young children should also be taught how to relieve and clean themselves independently and to sit down and use the toilet. This saves others from undue hassle, waste of time and inconvenience.
Personal hygiene is very important at all times. Children should take a shower prior to coming to the Madrasa after sporting and other similar activities. Socks etc should be changed on a daily basis. Please send your child to the Madrasa/Masjid in clean attire in accordance with the command of Allah in the Qur’an.
If your child has any medical conditions or allergies then it is paramount to write this down clearly on the admission form and mention the symptoms etc to your child’s teacher; we will also keep a log of this in our office.
Personal belongings
Children must be responsible or trained to look after their own belongings; they must come to Madrasa each day with the following items:
- Madrasa bag.
- Islamic Studies books (Qadah, Quran, Gift for muslims etc), exercise books and pen (If both are required).
Items not allowed in madrasa
The below items may be confiscated and only returned to parents upon collection from the office.

- Knives, pen knives and any similar dangerous items. These items shall not be returned. (This will incur a fixed term suspension).
- Jewellery/expensive watches, make-up.
- No chewing gums/sweets/drinks or any other snacks.
Please note: Any other item may be confiscated if the teacher deems it unsafe/unsuitable for class.
Hometime
Parent and / or guardians should wait outside the Masjid in an orderly manner which does not cause inconvenience to anyone. Please also be mindful not to cause congestion at the entrance of the masjid as businesses run during these ours. Also, if you are driving, please park your car at a marked bay, come out of your car and wait outside the Masjid.
Please remember that if you do not park your car safely, you are endangering the lives of little children by blocking their view to see clearly on both sides. Please park safely on marked bays, drive slowly and cautiously when collecting your children.
Your child’s admission maybe terminated if you are found to be constantly ignoring the Masjid’s request, or if you are causing disruption in anyway deemed inappropriate.
Please do not bring the Masjid into disrepute by your actions outside. Remember everyone is an ambassador for our religion! We must not damage the reputation of the Masjid through our actions out in the community.

Islamic behaviour/mannerism
At Al Madina Masjid Islamic centre, we hope to inculcate Islamic manners and character in all the children. We expect parents to uphold and encourage their children to practice what they have learnt in Madrasa at home too; an aspect of our teaching includes the respect and obedience that you would expect from your children towards yourself; similarly, teachers also deserve the same respect and obedience.
We cannot stress enough the importance of punctual and regular offering of Salah. Parents must ensure that their children are offering their Salah at home on time or at the Masjid under the supervision of a responsible adult.
Disciplinary action
Discipline within the Madrasa is very important, and something we take very seriously. Well-behaved and disciplined children are crucial for the smooth running of Madrasa and society in general.
We do not have a corporal punishment policy.
Our disciplinary procedure after exhausting all efforts to motivate/encourage any child is as follows:
- Verbal warning given to the child (depending on offence committed)
- Detention may also be given (10 minutes after lesson or 1 hour on the weekend).
- Phone call or letter to parents if the issue is still not resolved.
- Child put on Report/Target Card.
- In addition to this, parents to be called in for a meeting with the Principal. At this stage we expect the issue to be resolved and the problem should no longer exist.
- 6. If the concern is still not resolved, then the child may be suspended. On certain occasions a child may be expelled if is in the best interest of the Madrasa. The final decision will be made by the Madrasa disciplinary panel (Shu’ra).
Note: We may not always follow the above procedure, such as in the case of persistent and/or aggressive behaviour. In such we will suspend the pupil immediately. The management will then decide what steps to take.
Appointment with teachers
If parents wish to speak to their child’s teacher then they must phone in to make an appointment or come outside of Madrasa after teaching time, 7.00pm is usually an ideal time.
Homework
Homework/Sabaq is given to the children daily. This includes practicing reading, memorization, recognition and written work (for secondary years). Parents must ensure their children are completing this work every day at home. We expect children to complete/learn their Madrasa work for at least 20-30 minutes a day.
Masjid & madrasa property
Parents will be responsible for any damage caused by their children to the property of the Masjid or Madrasa
Lost Property
The Madrasa is not responsible for any lost items or lost fees. Any item that is handed into the office will be put into the lost property box.
Complaints protocol
We take into account your views/comments/complaints and suggestions very seriously. Regular interaction between parents and the Madrasa staff is very important, in order for our children to flourish and achieve the best within their capabilities and abilities.
Below are the steps necessary to take if you have any concerns:
- Make a telephone call during Madrasa time to the Imam
- Write a letter/email addressed to the Madrasa.([email protected])
- If all the above fails then address the issues with the Principal.
The Madrasa will not tolerate any kind of abuse whatsoever towards any member of staff! We will investigate all complaints to the best our ability, and will act fairly towards all parties.
Communication form
lease check your child’s homework on a daily basis as this will be a form of communication between the teachers and parents. The Madrasa has a Communication Form (available on request from the office) which may be used to write any problems or concerns you may have; this will help build a good relationship with the Madrasa and give concerned parents a better understanding on how the Madrasa works.
